THEORY

The theory area at The University of Alabama School of Music prepares students for musical careers in the twenty-first century by equipping them with strong foundations in theoretical and analytical approaches to music from a wide variety of styles. Our undergraduate and graduate curricula develop skills and knowledge that allow students to create music with maturity, understand it with depth, and communicate about it with precision. The theory area offers a Bachelors of Music in Theory and a Masters of Music in Theory.
